Easy, Low-Cal Spaghetti Squash

I discovered the magic of spaghetti squash last week from my boyfriend who knows I’m always looking for low-cal ways to fill my bottomless tummy. After scarfing down the entire spaghetti squash he prepared for me to TRY, I realized that I wanted more of this delicious meal to cleanse my palate—–stat!

Spaghetti squash acts as a filling, delicious and lower calorie pasta substitute with a unique texture, so you should definitely give it a try.

You will need:


~pasta sauce of your choice


~pan for the oven

Directions for the oven

(although, you can also microwave the squash for 6 to 8 minutes or boil it for 20 minutes)

~ Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees F.

~As you wait for the oven to heat, cut the squash lengthwise and scrape out its seeds and pulp.

~Put the squash halves facing down in the pan, and bake for about 30 or 40 minutes. When done, let stand for a few minutes to cool down.

~After it’s done cooling, scrape the inside of the squash halves out with a fork into a bowl or plate. This will create the spaghetti-like strands.

~Finally, heat up your favorite sauce and pour it on top! You can use anything from pesto to marinara to spice up the meal.
